CHINA, Kangxi period (1662-1722), export porcelain. Pair of coolers decorated with rocks and flowering branches, butterflies and insects. Ceramic and enamels of the green family mounted in silver. The base is ribbed, the lip simply banded. Paris 1781-1789, master silversmith Guillaume-Jean-Baptiste GOUFFE, active between 1775 and 1793. H. 26.5 cm without mount - H. 27.4 cm with mount. (Chips on the neck and foot, hair on one of the refreshers on the body). Provenance: Former Baroness Mathilde de Rothschild collection.
