Arnould DE VUEZ (1644–1720). - Lot 13
Arnould DE VUEZ (1644–1720). Jeanne of Constantinople and her two husbands: Ferdinand of Portugal and Thomas of Savoy. Oil on canvas 59x41 cm in a gilded wooden frame. (missing sections, repainted at the edges) Probably the first version used as the model for the tapestry housed at the Musée de l’Hospice Comtesse in Lille. It is worth noting that the composition of the tapestry is reversed compared to that of the painting. Reference work: Arnould de Vuez (Saint-Omer, 1644 – Lille, 1720): Painting in Flanders under Louis XIV: [exhibition, Musée Sandelin, Saint-Omer, December 16, 2020 – April 11, 2021; Musée des Beaux-Arts de Cambrai, December 16, 2020 – April 11, 2021] / François Marandet
