Exceptional, original and important point carpet from La Savonnerie (France), late 19th/early 20th century. Wool velvet on cotton backing La Savonnerie knotted-stitch carpet Parma field decorated with a mosaic of fleur-de-lys in rows of diamond-shaped lattices and stylized ivory diamonds framing a large central circular lilac medallion inlaid with finely drawn beige swans surrounding a round star-shaped flower. Beautifully balanced frame with a terminal border decorated with rows of stylized fishbone flowers and foliage. Good condition 390 x 360 cm
