Important and original Soappoint rug, Donegal factory, Ireland, circa 1925 High-quality wool velvet on cotton backing Original decoration reminiscent of Polish carpets and 16th- and 17th-century rugs from the Safavid dynasty Pale pink field decorated with semis of bulbs and palmettes of geometrically stylized flowers in pale green and golden beige, surrounded by ivory and emerald green foliage in the form of octopuses and stylized streamers framing a floral composition with double shells. Triple borders, the main one pale green, with decoration reminiscent of the central field. Good condition 357 x 268 cm
