France, Late 19th century, Napoleon III period Exceptional and important wool velvet "point de la savonnerie" carpet on cotton backing, pale pink field decorated with polychrome floral wreath scrolls framing a large beige central medallion with multicolored floral bouquet, circled by a ruby crenellated wreath with stylized foliage, flanked by four spandrels with stylized vases. Beautifully balanced border with finely drawn floral cartouches. Dimensions: 550 x 450 cm (Good condition, maintenance restorations)
