Important Agra (India) mid 20th century. Wool velvet on cotton backing. Ruby field with motifs reminiscent of carpets from the 17th-century Safavid dynasty under Shah Abbas. Remarkable bronze-green, beige and old-gold flower bulbs and palmettes, surrounded by serrated and crenellated octopus-shaped foliage and stylized sky-blue ribbons. Triple border, the main one emerald, with interlacing floral caissons surrounded by polychrome stylized caterpillar foliage. Beautiful graphics. Good condition. 520 x 350 cm
