YOMOUD ASMALYK (Central Asia) ornamental rug, late 19th century. Beautiful example of an Asmalyk saddle, with chestnut field, covered with four-colored serrated gühls (Ak-Su), laid in staggered rows on a honeycomb lattice. Brick border with a series of star-shaped cruciform flowers, flanked by two small geometrically shaped ivory counter-borders. Two-tone braided and matted edges and chains finished with multicolored tassels. Beautifully crafted. Wool velvet on wool foundation. Good condition. 122 x 78 cm
