Beautiful KAZIM OUCHAK carpet (Caucasus-Armenia), late 19th century. An abrashé brick field with two boxes highlighted in gold, semiset with flowers, gems and geometrical shapes, supports two large cruciform ivory medallions with stylized vegetation, hearts with polychrome entomological shapes and flaming excrescences, navy and ivory. They are framed by two anthracite and navy reserves, with flowers supporting stylized representations of the "Dragon", a symbolic force of nature, in ivory, brick, navy and old gold, surmounted on one side by a brick lintel with multicolored vegetation. Old-gold border with fleur-de-lys suite, flanked by serrated highlights and two-tone ribbons. This magnificent rug is a fine example of Armenian craftsmanship and weaving quality. Wool velvet on wool foundation. Good condition. 304 x 133 cm
